Huzzah.

Oh, not much going on here. Just passing the time over the holidays, keeping myself amused enough to wake up for the next day. Every weekend I pop over to my favourite cybercafe Double-Cross (www.double-cross.co.uk) and play in the tournaments as Riddled, a name which has become my username to the end of time, if you see me around on a game give me a holler and I'd probably be more than happy to talk to you about anything as of now.

Few days ago I ordered Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, kind of mandatory considering I purchased the last two so I really need to see how it finishes up. Now looking back on what I did, I felt dirty and stupid. Why on earth do people play such repeatitive games? What keeps them hooked? Simplisity? The fact that a fresh player has as much chance to kill a veteran as everybody else?

Addictions aside, my College days are flying past. Weeks are feeling like days, hours like minutes and whilst everything is rosy for me, my friends have having shitty days. Daniel was wrongly accused of stealing booze from catering and recieved a fist to the face. Gemma has dropped out of childcare after reliasing that it wasn't what she wanted to do after all. I've been swinging by the Legionpharma website (which is now owned by Sintek) in hopes that it has remotely changed or a clue has been introduced... No such luck.

Also, the only game that seems to be worth getting from what I've seen so far this year is SiN:Episodes. I'm just glad that Ritual have given the positive on a SDK on or after release, hopefully a sizeable amount of mods, maps or models will be processed in the months after. I want to be an active member of the community, and my intention is to do that by helping out Chris at www.sinepisodes.net in my free time (Which I seem to have alot of nowadays). I really can't be arsed updating this thing at this moment in time. Why? Because College is so perfect and there really isn't anything to rant about! The lecturers are great, my main tutor is awesome and the college itself is sickeningly friendly despite all my previous fears as a young child several years back.

At the moment, my bestest female friend has probably just landed somewhere in Turkey and kipping in a nice hotel (I hope). This nice sounding holiday could not have come at a worse time, as now she will miss the first week of College and that can only mean one thing for her, CATCHUP CATCHUP CATCHUP. Oh dear. She'll probably hold me responsible for it and give me a new set of bruises, which always appear after remaining in her presence for longer than an hour (but I don't really mind, it's a minor problem).

On the side note, I am currently blogging this from my shiny new computer which me and my father put together with a great struggle yesterday, today.. erm, 3 in the morning? Ok. No wait, four. Here are the specs:

1.8GHz AMD Processor (Clockable to 3.0GHz)

RADEON X800GT (256MB)

512 RAM

Onboard Sound

80GB HD

DVD/CD RW x16 x48

OMG NO I GOT WINDOWS XP, I AM A TRAITOR

*Cough* I was... still am a Windows 98 SE loyalist, but times are pushing us into the warzone known as XP (AKA eXploding Penis). Hopefully this computer will last a few years (3 if I am lucky) before game developers start churning out games with EYEBLEEDING graphics or YOU NEED A BETTER SOUND CARD noises. Also, for the week ahead... I'm going to minimialize my gaming... I need to rest my fingers before they fall off.

I'm not dead yet... More like, Ritual and Valve are working together! Unbelievable! Ritual created SiN, Valve created Half-life. Both edging for top spot, Ritual might have done just as well as Valve if it wasn't for Activision who pushed them into a poorly executed release filled with game bugs that made it impossible to finish entirely. Valve on the other hand were treated slightly less harsh and were able to bring a masterpiece of first-person shooting to the field. As evidence to this, SiN is played by less than 40 people online whilst Half-life is still played by thousands on a daily basis. It was not Ritual's fault, and now Valve has given them the ability to work without the need of a publisher! They can make their own rules now.

The future of gaming is downloading, boxes and cases will become obsolete in due time.

Publishers will begin to sweat profusely.

Just completed SiN again, much fun and mindless violence. For example in one of the levels...

This is me, somewhere in Freeport City dam escaping the map. Usually, when you 'escape' a map you recieve graphical errors a plenty (with Half-life you would get a watery, sloshy effect) such as the ones shown in this screenshot. That black thing above the left fist is infact an object located in a building underneath the area I am standing in. Wierd huh?

The LegionPharma hunt at www.ritual.com has continued. A concept art has been found along with an MP3 file which could both be related to their new project (which has to be SiN2, all the signs are there). It's late now and the next day is already well on its way, so I'm giving up the search for now.

Arg, my head feels like a trumpet. Must take aspirin ASAP.

In other news, the www.ritual.com hunt is getting deeper and we are now looking for a password to access the next clue or the ending. Played the original SiN through again, to see if there was any linking between the website and the game. Couldn't find anything unfortunately. In other news, my sister kindly left the attic window open allowing the stormy weather that befell England to trickle into the floorboards and dampen the place up abit. I actually had to inform my mother (who is normally all-seeing and all-powerful) about it.

Just another day.

Just been reliving the past, Prince of Persia 2 will never cease to be a difficult game for me. Sometimes I look at the games that have come out recently like Unreal 2 and point many fingers at the fact that these games are continuiously becoming easier and easier with each passing year (even on the hardest game settings). Now either, I'm getting better or developers are making games easier so that even three-year old would be able to finish a game (even if the game had a rating of 16+). The most recent Prince of Persia to be released was Warrior Within, and I completed it on Hard mode in just under seven hours dying only three times in total.

I prefer the good old days, with the heartwrenching disgust when you fall to your death and have to start the entire game... What to write, what to write. Well... I guess I should introduce myself first, I am Robert Michael Gibson. Recently departed from prison for children (school) and now heading into my college years (praying that I have achieved the grades to get the course that I want) to study Computing. Studying this, because:

A) I have a morbid fasination with computers.
B) I want to snake my way into the Games Industry.
C) I have a morbid fasination with computer games.

This morbid fasination helps me greatly, I can do something that most people would tire of doing on computers and actually enjoy it! There is nothing more satisifying than sitting down at a computer and breaking a game using idiot logic, over and over again, for hours (nay, days!). For example, climbing out of Half-life levels by abusing the physics (I didn't even have to use a weapon to do it or mess with the game configuration). I notice the mistakes that would normally make people hate me with vigor, icky little spelling mistakes. *Cough* Works is happiness!

I will try to update this atleast three times a week, taking into account my:
- Role as a Dungeon Master on a NWN server. Which takes away hours of my life on a daily basis. (I want to cast magic missile :D)
- My current obession with www.ritual.com and the SiN2 teaser website. (Elexis will have bigger melons)
- My infrequent bouts of hatred towards the English Government. (get rid of VAT)
- Checking my emails and sifting through the sea of endless spam. (get big today, click here)
- My parents.

Only one more exam to go (business studies) and then I must wait for my results. The extremely long wait.
